Types of Dentures
- Complete - When the patient is completely edentulous and requires replacement of all teeth.
- Partial denture - To replace some of the missing teeth, either in the upper and / or lower arch.
- Immediate dentures - Can be complete or partial dentures. These dentures are inserted the same day as extractions are done. This is recommended for patients who do not want to go out into the public without teeth for aesthetic reasons.
Different Types of Partial Dentures
- Acrylic partial has an acrylic base and stays in place with a metal clasp.
- Cast partial has a metal framework and stays in place with a metal clasp.
- Flexi partial has no metal and stays in place with a clear clasp.
- Implant-supported dentures are a type of denture that is attached to the implant.
- Mini dental implants are small-diameter titanium implants used to stabilize the dentures, especially lower complete dentures which tend to be less stable but can be used in upper and lower.
